GBS Spring play is:
The Laramie Project
By Moisés Kaufman and members of The Tectonic Theatre Project
I encourage everyone to audition for Cinderella--The Laramie Project auditions will be after that. There will be an audition packet with lots of info.
Here is a synopsis of the play:
The Laramie Project is a documentary-styled play that analyzes the death of Matthew Shepard, an openly gay teenager who was brutally murdered in the small town of Laramie, Wyoming, in 1988 because of his sexual identity.
The play represents over 400 interviews with more than 100 residents and officials of Laramie, Wyoming by Kaufman and The Tectonic Theatre Project. This hate crime brought worldwide attention to the subject of sexual discrimination and hate-fueled violence. Hailed as one of the most captivating and encompassing pieces of contemporary theatre, the play shocks, challenges, and moves all who watch it as it reveals the lowest depths of hatred and the greatest heights of compassion that exist within all human beings. It is my hope that by presenting this play to a new generation of people, we can pass on this important message: ERASE HATE.
